A Future Caravan - New technologies, emotional experience, transformation and expandability are the key drivers for this proposal.
A lightweight composite carbon fibre enclosure with outward views set behind four ‘Window Wheels’. The same glass technology utilised in the production of the FA22 Raptor stealth fighter jet enables a lightweight, high strength, high impact window. Sandwiched polycarbonate and optical glass sheets are drape formed / fusion bonded in an autoclave with additional new radial bearing technology allowing a remarkable ‘Hubless’ glazed wheel assembly.
Mimicking the accordion, the caravan can expand and contract to site conditions allowing for additional internal space. A drop-down social deck and hydraulic window / canopy system provides a valuable connection with nature and the outside world.
Connectivity to ‘Social Hubs’ throughout the world is a possible extension of the idea, where mobility and architecture meet to allow Window Wheelers to connect to caravan docking stations and places of social exchange: a caravan colony!
The ‘Window Wheeler’ would be the first of its kind and would inject excitement and beauty into the all too familiar caravan marketplace.
